Next Conference: TBA

Our next tech conference is TBA and will occur at 1:00PM EST/10:00AM PST/7:00PM Israel Time, via IRC.

The chat will take place in the #opensiddur channel on irc://irc.freenode.net . (If you have an IRC client, e.g. Chatzilla, you can click on this link: irc://irc.freenode.net/opensiddur .)

If you do not have an IRC client, you can use the following link to get on using a web based client: http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=opensiddur&prompt=1 You will be prompted for a nickname. Type one in - you can use your real name, or something close to it (eg, first name and initials). If you absolutely prefer to remain anonymous, choose any nickname you want. Then, press connect.

Chatting with Internet Relay Chat (IRC)

The IRC channel is primarily for developer chats, and no one is guaranteed to be there to answer questions. In fact, without an appointment via email, the channel is likely to be empty. If you would like to set up a chat appointment, make it known on the opensiddur-tech mailing list.

Proper Netiquette for Chatting

Proper IRC netiquette is expected.

  • Have patience, ask a question, and let the client sit for a while until you get an answer. Don't ask the question over and over again.
  • If you have a large paste to make, don't paste into the channel. Instead use a pastebin such as http://pastebin.com/.

Joining our IRC channel

Try to use your Wiki Username as your nickname, if possible.
